Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression

Spinal Decompression Therapy
in Lutz, FL

For disc herniations, chronic back pain, and sciatica that is not responding to standard care, spinal decompression creates the conditions your discs need to actually heal.

How It Works

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression

Spinal decompression is a motorized traction therapy that gently stretches the spine in a controlled, intermittent pattern. This creates negative intradiscal pressure, which draws herniated or bulging disc material back toward the center of the disc and promotes the influx of oxygen, water, and nutrients that damaged discs desperately need.

The spine does not get good blood supply directly to the discs. Discs receive their nutrients through a process called imbibition, absorbing fluids from the surrounding tissue when pressure is relieved. When you are compressing a disc all day through sitting, standing, and loading, that process cannot happen. Spinal decompression essentially forces that mechanism to work.

Patients typically feel gentle stretching during treatment and leave the session feeling looser and often with reduced pain. It is not painful, and most people find it quite comfortable.

What to Expect

What Makes Back on Trac® Different?

Most spinal decompression systems require patients to lie flat on a table with heavy straps or harnesses around the pelvis or chest. At Foundation Chiropractic, we use the Back on Trac® system, a comfortable seated decompression chair designed to gently reduce pressure on the spine without the intimidating table setup.

During treatment, the chair applies controlled decompression in a gentle, cyclical pattern. This alternates between decompression and relaxation phases, helping reduce pressure on irritated discs, joints, and nerves while improving comfort and mobility.

Most decompression recommendations include a series of visits over several weeks, depending on the severity of the condition and how the body responds. Sessions are typically short, comfortable, and customized to the patient’s findings.

We often combine Back on Trac® decompression with Upper Cervical Orthospinology, Class IV Laser Therapy, or other supportive therapies when appropriate. This allows us to address spinal alignment, disc irritation, inflammation, and function together rather than relying on one therapy alone.

Not every disc or nerve condition requires decompression. After your consultation and examination, we will explain whether Back on Trac® is a good fit for your specific case and provide clear recommendations based on your findings.

Wondering if spinal decompression is right for you? Schedule a consultation at our Lutz, FL office and bring any recent imaging or reports. We’ll review your case, explain your options, and let you know if Back on Trac® spinal decompression is a good fit.
