What frequently gets missed in that workup is the role of the cervical spine. The nerves that power and sense the entire shoulder complex originate at C4, C5, and C6 in the neck. A misalignment at those levels can cause shoulder pain, weakness, and even rotator cuff dysfunction without any actual structural damage in the shoulder itself.
We look at the whole picture. The cervical spine, the thoracic spine, the shoulder joint mechanics, and the surrounding soft tissue. In many cases, correcting the cervical spine resolves or significantly reduces the shoulder pain without any direct shoulder treatment at all.
For true shoulder injuries like rotator cuff tendinitis, bursitis, or impingement, we combine joint mobilization of the shoulder with cervical adjustments and, where appropriate, soft tissue therapy and laser therapy targeted at the inflamed structures.
