Many health problems are more complex than the symptoms you feel. Neck pain, headaches, dizziness, back pain, numbness, fatigue, and other concerns can all have underlying structural and neurological factors that deserve a closer look.
Our examination is designed to identify those factors through a combination of history, physical examination, neurological testing, postural analysis, and advanced technology. Rather than guessing, we gather objective information about how your body is functioning.
For many patients, this process includes digital X-rays taken in our office so we can evaluate spinal alignment and structural changes that may be contributing to their condition.
Once your examination is complete, we will explain exactly what we found, what it means, and whether we believe our approach is appropriate for your situation.

Plan for approximately 30 to 45 minutes for your examination. Comfortable clothing is recommended. If you have previous MRIs, CT scans, X-rays, or other records, bring them with you.

Getting the most from your examination starts with giving us a clear understanding of what you have been experiencing.
Be prepared to discuss when your symptoms began, what activities affect them, what treatments you have tried, and how your condition impacts your daily life. Even small details can provide valuable clues.
If you have prior imaging or records from another provider, bring them with you. These records often help us better understand your history and avoid unnecessary duplication of testing.

What Patients Ask Us
How long does the examination take?
Most examinations take about 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the complexity of your case and whether imaging is needed. This does not include the time spent during your initial consultation.
Will I get adjusted during the exam?
Not necessarily. Some patients receive their first adjustment the same day, while others benefit from reviewing findings first and scheduling their adjustment at a follow-up visit. We let the exam guide that decision.
Will I need X-rays?
This will be decided on by the doctor. For upper cervical cases in particular, precise X-rays are an important part of understanding your spinal alignment. We only recommend them when clinically appropriate.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing is recommended and all jewerly removed. We evaluate posture, movement, and range of motion during the examination.
What if I already have MRI or X-ray reports?
Bring them with you. Previous imaging and records can provide valuable information and help us better understand your condition.
What happens after the examination?
Once all findings have been reviewed, we will schedule a Patient Recommendation Conference visit where we explain exactly what we found, answer your questions, and discuss whether care is recommended.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is required to schedule an examination at Foundation Chiropractic.
