Frequently Asked Questions
What Patients Ask Most
What is the difference between Upper Cervical and Traditional Chiropractic?
Traditional chiropractic works on the whole spine and other joints in the body, using gentle pushes, twisting, or movements to improve spinal and joint function. Upper Cervical Chiropractic focuses specifically on just two bones at the top of the neck — C1 and C2 (the atlas and axis). It uses very gentle and precise adjustments with no twisting, cracking, or popping. Because these two bones sit directly at the brain-body connection, small corrections in this region can have a profound effect on overall spinal and nervous system function.
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?
No. You can book directly with us without a doctor's referral. Chiropractic care is a primary healthcare profession — no referral is required to schedule your first appointment.
How much does an adjustment cost?
Office visit fees range from $85 for children to $95 for adults, covering both upper cervical and full-spine adjustments when needed. Costs can vary based on your individual needs and health history. Laser and Shockwave therapy sessions are available at an additional cost. We offer complimentary consultations so you can speak with a doctor and get an accurate estimate before committing to anything.
Do you accept insurance?
Great question! We are a private-pay practice, so we're not in-network with insurance companies. However, here's the good news — we provide detailed billing statements with all the correct insurance codes, so you can submit them to your insurance carrier for reimbursement. Many of our patients actually get partial or full reimbursement depending on their plan, so it's definitely worth submitting. A typical adult office visit is around $95. If you want an exact estimate before you commit, we offer complimentary consultations where you can speak with a doctor and they'll give you accurate pricing for your specific situation.
How often will I need to come in?
The frequency of your visits is determined by objective diagnostic tools — including digital X-rays, heart rate variability testing, spinal thermography, muscle scanning, and thermal imaging. This gives us measurable data to track your progress and adjust your care plan accordingly. Rather than guessing, we let your body's response guide the process.
Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?
Most patients feel immediate relief after an adjustment. You may experience mild soreness similar to post-exercise soreness, which usually resolves within 24 hours. Our upper cervical adjustments involve no twisting, cracking, or popping — they are among the gentlest adjustments in chiropractic.
What should I wear to my first appointment?
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. You may need to change into a gown for your examination, so avoid tight or restrictive clothing.
Can pregnant women receive chiropractic care?
Absolutely. We are specially trained in prenatal chiropractic care and use tables and techniques that are safe for expecting mothers at all stages of pregnancy. Dr. Andrea Hutchinson is certified in the Webster Technique, specifically designed to support pelvic balance and comfort during pregnancy.
Can you help me get beyond pain to total body function?
Yes — and that's exactly our goal. We aim to restore your body to full function by addressing the primary issue rather than merely masking the pain. When the spine is properly aligned, the nervous system can communicate more effectively with every organ and system in the body. Patients regularly report improvements in breathing, digestion, circulation, immune health, sleep, and energy — not just relief from pain.
